Homer Spit Picture (ID: 163)

Print Title: Homer Spit & Kachemak Bay, Alaska

Greeting Card Caption: Homer Spit extends 4-1/2 miles into Kachemak Bay and is a small but busy commercial, industrial and tourist center in the town of Homer, Alaska. Created 14,000 to 15,000 years ago, geologists debate whether the Spit was formed from; the terminal moraine of a glacier that filled Kachemak Bay, natural deposition of sediments transported by the currents, or a combination of both.
