Greeting Card Caption: Copper in the area of the 14-story Kennecott Mill was among the richest deposits ever found and is still unique in the world. It was also the largest industrial site in Alaska. From 1911 to 1938, over $200-million of copper was transported via railroad to steamships in Cordova. Over 600 people were employed by the Kennecott Copper Corporation - 300 at the mill site and another 300 at surrounding mines.
