Horned Puffin Picture (ID: 236)

Print Title: Horned Puffin (Fratercula corniculata)

Greeting Card Caption: Early sailors dubbed the puffin "sea parrot" because of their large, colorful bill. A puffin's bill is larger and more colorful during the summer nesting season, because the outer layers are shed during late summer, leaving a smaller, drab-colored bill. Using their webbed feet only for maneuvering, puffins propel themselves underwater using their wings. Puffins feed primarily on fish and zooplankton, and appear more adept at swimming underwater than flying.
