Greeting Card Caption: Also known as hair seals, harbor seals are widespread in both north Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. In Alaska, single pups are born between May and mid-July. Females often choose to give birth in fjords where icebergs calved from glaciers offer convenient haul-outs and protection from predators. Harbor seal pups are able to swim almost immediately after birth and normally remain with their mothers for about one month.
